These classes work better when they can scout potential battlefields from afar and keep their distance or keep to the shadows. Personally, I don't like it when it's taken for granted that a rogue would be skilled in it and it's required for advancing the plot - unless the player is warned about that before character creation.Ī bit off-topic, but what actually is *no fun* for rogues and magic-users is when enemies spawn close by, or even when the PC is lured to melee distance by the obligatory villain speech just before combat (although it seems hardly avoidable, seeing what a well established tradition that is ) ). The more important thing to me would be to let players know whether it's implemented in the mod or not. Not to say you should not include pickpocketing - the more skills the merrier -, just that you don't necessarily have to, IMO, if it's too complicated. So I wouldn't say that skipping this one makes a rogue boring to play as long as there are opportunities for using the other skills like sneaking, lockpicking, traps, magic items etc. And there are so many rogue skills I like better. I don't have many experience with it myself even when I'm playing a rogue I seldom pick that skill, because I expect it to be either useless or potentially game-breaking, or at the very least that it would feel like cheating / taking shortcuts to me.
